In October we learned the Spanish names of family members and talked all about our families. During the month, we also talked about Halloween/Noche de brujas and Day of the dead/Dโรญa de los muertos. We recited a poem about family members as we pointed to our collection of dolls representing mother, father, brother, sister, baby, grandmother, grandfather, aunt, uncle and more. Our poem is:
Dโรณnde estโรก mamโรก? Dโรณnde estโรก mamโรก?
Aquโโรญ estoy, aquโโรญ estoyโฆ
Yo te quiero mucho, yo te quiero mucho.
Besitos para tโรญ, abracitos para tโรญ.
Dโรณnde estโรก papรก? hermana? abuelo? tโโรญo? primo?โฆ.
In our classroom the children had a lot of fun building tall structures with wooden building blocks. They also enjoyed playing with our new pretend play tools.
For Halloween/Dโโรญa de las brujas we decorated jack-o-lanterns/linternas de calabaza and ghosts/fantasmas by gluing paper eyes and mouths. The children really enjoyed talking about what they will dress up as and coming to school in their costumes the last day of school before Halloween.
